What are the common incorrect installation methods of hollow wall anchors?

1. Improper drilling operation
The hole diameter and depth do not match: the hole diameter is too large, so the anchor body cannot expand, or the depth is insufficient, so the hollow wall anchor is not fully embedded. The expansion anchor needs to have the same drilling diameter as the anchor body, otherwise it cannot form effective friction. Improper drilling operation will cause the bearing capacity to drop by more than 50%, or even fail completely.
Solution: Use a drill bit that matches the anchor bolt, and the drilling depth is 5-10mm longer than the anchor body.
Tilt drilling: The drilling angle deviates from the vertical direction by more than 5°, resulting in uneven contact between the anchor bolt and the wall.
Solution: Use an electric drill to assist the vertical positioner to ensure that the drilling angle error is ≤2°.

2. Mismatch between anchor type and scene
Use heavy anchor bolts in light-load scenes: Use metal expansion anchors when hanging light objects on gypsum boards, which excessively damages the wall structure.
Solution: Use nylon self-tapping anchors for light loads (<10kg) and threaded anchors for medium loads (10-30kg).
Use ordinary materials in humid environments: Carbon steel anchors are used in bathrooms, kitchens and other areas without rust prevention.
Solution: Choose 304 stainless steel or galvanized anchors, and apply anti-rust grease in the holes.

3. Mistakes in installation force control
Over-tightening screws: Use power tools to tighten at high speed, exceeding the recommended torque. Over-tightening will crush the gypsum board.
Solution: Manually tighten until the resistance increases suddenly and then stop, or use a torque wrench to control.
